Ridding Your Life of Acne Break-Outs

You can get rid of acne and prevent breakouts in several ways. There are numerous over-the-counter medications you can use, both expensive and inexpensive. Some people find success with these medications. Others turn to their dermatologist to help and get prescription medications to help with acne.

You can try a few methods at home to help you if you suffer from acne breakouts. The first thing you can try is changing your eating habits. For decades, people thought that eating chocolate and lots of sweets would make you break out. This is not true. It isn’t the sweets that are causing breakouts so much as it is sugary, greasy foods. Greasy foods are one of the top causes of acne breakouts. Lessen your intake of sugars, fried foods, and pasta and increase the amount of whole grains, vegetables, and beans.

It is true that you should wash your face frequently to help prevent breakouts. Doctors recommend washing your face at least twice a day because it has more oil-producing glands than any other part of your body. If that oil is not washed away on a regular basis, it will clog the pores and cause pimples and blackheads. You can also use special facial cleansers that are meant for your type of skin – whether it be oily or dry. Choose a cleanser that will keep your face moisturized without causing your pores to clog.

Both the proper amount of sleep and a good amount of daily exercise will also help you prevent breakouts. Both help the body relax, which cuts down on your stress level. When your stress level is up, your blood pressure will rise, which will encourage an influx of insulin. This causes the glands to produce more oil, which in turn clogs the pores. Do whatever you can to minimize your stress and you will see your acne going away sooner than you would expect.
