How Fast Does Dysport Start to Work?

Are you looking to smooth away dynamic wrinkles faster than you could with Botox? Are you looking for dramatic results that last longer than Botox? If so, you need Dysport injections at the office of Dr. Wendy E. Roberts in Rancho Mirage, CA. While Botox is currently the most popular neuromodulator, it’s certainly not the best. Here’s what you need to know.

How Quickly Does Dysport Start Working?

Dysport starts working immediately, and the initial results of treatment can be seen within 48 hours of injection. To see the final results of treatment, you’ll need to wait around two weeks. If you think this sounds like a long waiting period, compare the speed of results to Botox. Botox takes around three days to show the initial results of treatment and three weeks to reveal the final results.

How Can I See the Results of Treatment Sooner?

If you have an important event scheduled for the day after your treatment, you’re in luck. You can halve the time it takes to see the initial results of treatment by exercising your facial muscles. If you’re using this treatment for a non-invasive brow lift, raise your eyebrows 40 times. Then, rest for 10 minutes. Complete three sets of eyebrow raises.

If you’re treating deep forehead folds, scowl as hard as you can 40 times in a row. After a 10-minute break, scowl for another 40 times. Rest another 10 minutes and repeat 40 more repetitions to finish your third and final set.

What Results Can I Expect?

One of the greatest things about this neuromodulator treatment is you can use it to treat virtually any problem caused by hyperdynamic muscles. For example, if you have smoker’s lines, smile lines, frown lines, and laugh lines, you can smooth all of them away with this neuromodulator treatment.

Furthermore, this treatment can be used to address medical concerns related to hyperdynamic muscles, such as chronic migraines, cervical dystonia, excessive sweating, and uncontrollable eyelid spasms.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The results of Dysport last between four and six months. When compared to Botox, featuring results that last around three to four months, it’s clear that this neuromodulator has a leg up on the competition. If you keep your body and skin hydrated and protect your skin from the sun, you may even be able to extend the results of your treatment further.

How Should I Prepare for Treatment?

To prepare for treatment, come in for an initial consultation. Dr. Wendy E. Roberts will assess the physical structure of your face, as well as the cause and severity of your cosmetic concerns. This neuromodulator is only designed to treat moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds. If you have mild cosmetic concerns, Botox will be a better treatment method for you.

If Dr. Roberts determines this is the right treatment for you, she will give you a comprehensive list of preparation instructions. Some key highlights include not smoking, not driving alcohol, not taking NSAIDs, and wearing sunscreen.

What Can I Expect During My Treatment Session?

During your treatment session, Dr. Wendy E. Roberts will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment site to numb it. Once the area is numb, 0.25 milliliters of the medicine will be evenly distributed among five strategic points per treatment area. On average, a session will take around 15 minutes to complete.

How Can I Care for My Skin After Treatment?

After your treatment session, you are free to return to your typical daily routine. However, to enhance the durability of your results, make sure you are protecting your skin from the sun. To do this, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 35 every four hours.

You should also avoid applying pressure to the treatment area until the neurotoxin has settled into your muscles fully. For example, you should not massage the treatment area, and you should not sleep on your stomach or side for the first night or two after treatment. Finally, try to keep your blood pressure stable by avoiding:

  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Excessive heat
  • Spicy foods
  • Caffeine
  • Excessive sodium

What Makes a Good Candidate for Treatment?

A good candidate for this treatment is between the ages of 18 and 65 and concerned about hyperdynamic muscles. He or she is in good physical, mental and emotional health and has realistic expectations about the entire treatment process, from preparation to aftercare. Furthermore, he or she is not allergic to milk.

Women who are pregnant, nursing, or think they are pregnant should hold off on having this type of treatment. Furthermore, people who are concerned with volume loss-related wrinkles are poor candidates for neuromodulator treatments. However, dermal fillers are perfect for smoothing away wrinkles caused by volume loss, as well as lifting and tightening the skin.
